Senecio stapeliiformis 'Kilimanjaro'

Size

The gorgeously unique markings up the pencil-like stems of Senecio stapeliiformis ‘Kilimanjaro’ combine soft, tan spines with deep green patterns that appear almost hand-drawn, all on a backdrop of pale, silvery green. During the spring and summer months, large orange blooms provide a stunning contrast against the up to 10 inch tall stems, making ‘Kilimanjaro’ even more of a standout in any succulent collection.

Also known by the name ‘Pickle Plant,’ it is not uncommon for the stems to blush a soft pink or even purple when exposed to ample bright sunlight. Extremely drought tolerant, overwatering is the greatest risk to this specimen, so be sure to adhere to a thorough yet infrequent watering routine, and pot within a well-draining and porous soil mix.

Preferring temperatures above 50 degrees Fahrenheit whenever possible, it is important to protect ‘Kilimanjaro’ from frost during the winter months, to avoid permanent damage to the somewhat brittle, thin stems which are its hallmark.
