DESCRIPTION

Embodying the resilience and beauty of its genus, Sempervivum ciliosum ssp. octopodes is a captivating succulent hailing from the rocky outcrops of Europe. Its name, translating to 'ever-living', hints at its hardy nature, capable of withstanding less than ideal conditions without sacrificing its allure. This particular subspecies flaunts a mesmerizing array of tightly packed rosettes, each adorned with slender, green leaves that boast a delicate fringe of fine cilia, resembling a halo of soft, white hairs. This unique feature not only adds to its visual appeal but also helps in trapping moisture, showcasing the plant's ingenious adaptation to survive in arid environments.

Growing to a modest size, typically no more than 4 inches in height and spread, Sempervivum ciliosum ssp. octopodes is perfect for small spaces, rock gardens, or as a standout addition to a succulent collection. Despite its compact size, its presence is bold, especially when it blooms in the early to mid-summer months. The flowers, emerging on tall stalks above the foliage, are a vibrant yellow, attracting pollinators and adding a splash of color to its surroundings. The blooms contrast beautifully against its green and white foliage, making it a focal point wherever it is planted.

Whether nestled in a rockery, thriving in a crevice, or showcased in a container, Sempervivum ciliosum ssp. octopodes is a testament to the beauty and resilience of succulents. Its easy-care nature, coupled with its striking appearance, makes it a cherished plant for enthusiasts and beginners alike. As it spreads and creates a lush carpet of rosettes, it serves as a constant reminder of nature's ability to weave beauty into even the harshest landscapes.

PLANT SIZING & APPEARANCE

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
