With dusty bluish green undertones, the fleshy mauve and lavender leaves of Echeveria ‘Mensa’ come to a point at the tip, where they also feature a red margin when the plant is appropriately ‘sun stressed.’ The newest growth at the center of the plant will retain the frosty blue-green coloration, creating a great contrast within each nearly symmetrical rosette. With a low-growing form, this variety reaches up to 6 inches in diameter before beginning to produce offsets, making it an excellent element within a temperate rock garden, or a stunning ‘filler’ component in an arrangement.

Bright sunlight will ensure that ‘Mensa’ displays its most vibrant color palette, as well as protect the rosettes against etiolating. The second key element of this variety’s care is to avoid overwatering and excess moisture, which can be accomplished through the provision of porous soil, ample drainage, excellent airflow, and a thorough but infrequent watering routine. Allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings will shield the plant against root rot, which is very difficult to reverse once it begins to take hold.

With proper care, ‘Mensa’ will send up inflorescences of bright yellow blooms during the spring and summer months, adding yet another layer of color to this already incredible variety.

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
