Echeveria 'Byzantine'

Size: 4”

While the thick, powdery blue leaves of Echeveria ‘Byzantine’ are striking in and of themselves, it is how they respond to moderate levels of stress that is truly outstanding. When exposed to highly bright light, as well as cooler temperatures, the margins of each leaf will flush a rich plum hue not often seen in succulents! As the leaves of these large rosettes begin to mature, they will also begin to undulate slightly towards the tip of each leaf, giving the plant a ruffled appearance.

Bright light is key to helping ‘Byzantine’ realize its full potential, so be sure to place your plant in the sunniest location possible. While cooler temperatures can encourage top-notch coloration, this variety cannot tolerate outdoor climates that dip below freezing and must be brought indoors at that time. Despite its exotic appearance, the remaining care requirements for ‘Byzantine’ are quite straightforward – porous soil in a well-draining pot, ample airflow around the leaves, and a thorough but infrequent watering routine will have you well on your way towards success! As with all rosette-shaped succulents, be mindful not to pour water directly over the plant, where moisture can settle and cause rot.

If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
