Agave xylonacantha 'Frostbite'
DESCRIPTION
Introducing the striking Agave xylonacantha 'Frostbite', a sculptural succulent hailing from the arid landscapes of Mexico. This remarkable plant is a true testament to the beauty and resilience of desert flora. With its long, slender leaves that radiate from the center, 'Frostbite' showcases a dramatic contrast of colors. The leaves are a deep, rich green, edged with a frosty white border that appears almost as if each leaf has been delicately dipped in ice. The pointed tips add an air of elegance and danger, making this plant a captivating addition to any collection.
Agave xylonacantha 'Frostbite' reaches a modest size, typically growing up to 2 feet in height and width, making it an ideal choice for container gardening or as a standout specimen in a drought-tolerant landscape. This plant thrives in full sun, where its colors become more pronounced, creating a vibrant display that draws the eye and sparks conversation.
Though 'Frostbite' is relatively low-maintenance, it demands well-draining soil and minimal water, embodying the true essence of a succulent. It is also worth noting that, like many agaves, 'Frostbite' will bloom once in its lifetime, producing a spectacular tall stalk of flowers that is a sight to behold. After blooming, the plant will produce offsets, ensuring that its stunning presence continues in your garden.
Whether planted in the ground or displayed in a decorative pot, Agave xylonacantha 'Frostbite' is a remarkable plant that combines the rugged beauty of agaves with a unique, icy allure. It's a must-have for enthusiasts looking to add a touch of architectural drama and year-round interest to their plant collection.
PLANT SIZING & APPEARANCE
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
