Crassula 'Tom Thumb' variegata, a delicate, fast growing succulent forms nearly vertical branches replete with bright green and white variegated, stacked leaves that will flush red around the margins when appropriately ‘sun stressed.’ Resembling a miniature ‘String of Buttons,’ this variety puts on dense, draping growth that scarcely reaches 6 inches tall and wide, making for a stunning addition to a windowsill or as a ‘filler’ component in a succulent fairy garden!
Well suited for beginner and seasoned succulent growers alike, ‘Tom Thumb' has straightforward care requirements. This variety needs plenty of bright to filtered light along with ample airflow, porous soil with adequate drainage, and thorough watering when the soil is completely dry. Hardy only to Zone 10, take care to protect this plant from frost to avoid permanently scarring its petite, water-filled leaves. Extra measures should be taken during the cooler months to avoid excess moisture around the leaves and soil surface, as this can predispose the plant to rot, fungi, or pests such as mealy bugs.
During the spring months, tiny white blooms will emerge from the tip of each stem, adding to the plant’s delicate and whimsical appeal!
If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
