Albuca spiralis 'Frizzle Sizzle' is an exceptionally unique, bulb-type succulent hailing from South Africa, and resembles a diminutive ornamental grass, with narrow green leaves that coil tightly at the tips and reach only 8 inches in height. With a distinct summer dormancy period, it is not uncommon to see the leaves begin to brown during this time, though they will be quickly replaced by both new leaves and distinctive yellow blooms once the growing season resumes in the winter! The blooms are made even more outstanding by virtue of their fragrance, which carries elements of both spice and vanilla!

Despite its exotic appearance, ‘Frizzle Sizzle’ is not difficult to care for – in fact, it is one of few succulents that can thrive in partial light conditions, though brighter sun will induce a tighter leaf curl. Care must be taken not to overwater – especially during summer dormancy – as this can cause the bulb to begin to rot. When planting, do not fully submerge the bulb in the soil, leaving the top portion exposed, and utilize a porous soil mix and a well-draining pot. Thorough but infrequent watering will also go a long way towards avoiding ills such as rot. Be sure to protect ‘Frizzle Sizzle’ from frosty temperatures, as it is not cold hardy and will suffer damage to its curled leaves.

While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
