Just as hardy as its wholly green cousin, Haworthia cymbiformis variegata features bright green leaves splashed with varying degrees of cream striping – indeed, some leaves may appear to be completely white in color! The leaves themselves are arranged in star-like rosettes and arch inward, topped with irregular translucent ‘windows’ towards the pointed tips of each leaf. Letting light reach deep within the recesses of the plant, in its native South Africa these ‘windows’ allow the plant to grow primarily beneath the soil surface, still receiving enough light to photosynthesize while remaining shielded from the sun’s harsh rays. In our homes, however, this adaptation allows Haworthia cymbiformis variegata to thrive in even the dimmer rooms of our household, unlike many other succulent varieties!

One of the easiest of all Haworthia to care for, this variegated specimen makes an exceptional starter succulent. Tolerant of both partial shade and a degree of overwatering, Haworthia cymbiformis variegata can withstand the learning curve of any succulent newbie! To encourage its success, strive to provide this variety with a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot, ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface, and a thorough but infrequent watering routine that allows the soil time to dry through between drinks. Given the appropriate care, this slow-growing variety will eventually produce offsets around the base of the 4-inch parent plant, and will send up stalks of white to pale pink blooms during the springtime or early summer months.

Hardy only to Zone 10, be sure to shield the water-rich leaves of Haworthia cymbiformis variegata from frosty temperatures, which could otherwise cause permanent damage.

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!

We received the packaged succulents and had a wonderful time going thru, finding what cool plants were hiding inside. We then transplanted them into two pots gave them a spritz of refreshing water and admired their beauty.

I really like finding plants that aren’t typically found in my local greenhouses. The plants themselves come so loved, well packaged and ready to be placed.
