Pachyphytum 'Pink Moonstones'

Charming, egg-shaped leaves sport a clear, creamy pink coloration that gives this Pachyphytum variety its name. Thick and rounded leaves stack up the stems to form loose rosettes when viewed from above – and, when provided with the right growing conditions, ‘Pink Moonstones’ will begin to offset to create a mass of color up to 8 inches tall and several inches wide. A thick layer of powdery farina further softens ‘Pink Moonstones’ aesthetic, making for a lovely high-contrast addition to any container arrangement, especially as the stems lengthen and begin to gently drape over the sides of their pot!

Native to the arid, cliffside landscapes of Mexico, ‘Pink Moonstones’ thrives with ample bright sunlight, which will serve the dual purpose of deepening its pink coloration and ensuring its most active growth. As its thick leaves store a substantial quantity of water for the plant, it is important to avoid overwatering, lest it subject the plant to rot. Therefore, be sure to employ a thorough yet infrequent watering routine, coupled with a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot. Plenty of airflow around the draping stems and soil surface is also key, to avoid excess moisture that may otherwise attract pests such as mealy bugs. 

Hardy only to Zone 10, ‘Pink Moonstones’ cannot tolerate frost, and prefers temperatures above 45 degree Fahrenheit whenever possible.
