Sedum pachyphyllum

Size

Adorable starbursts of finger-shaped leaves sit atop the gently curving stems of Sedum pachyphyllum, made all the more intriguing by their coloration – undertones of soft green are offset by leaf tips in shades of rosy pink, creating an aesthetic more whimsical than anything else! The tones of the leaves are slightly muted by a coating of powdery farina, so take care when handling this variety not to mar this layer with the oils from your fingerprints.

As Sedum pachyphyllum matures, the stems will begin to branch, creating a shrubby yet airy mass of foliage approximately 12 inches tall and wide. Bright sun is key to this variety’s best coloration, and will also encourage a profusion of warm yellow blooms during the spring and summer months. Beyond this lighting requirement, Sedum pachyphyllumis a hardy specimen, though it prefers to be allowed to dry out between thorough waterings. A porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot will stave off issues related to excess moisture retention, as will ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface.

Hardy only to Zone 10, take care not to expose Sedum pachyphyllumto freezing temperatures during the winter months.
