Long, draping stems stacked with pointed, slightly recurved leaves are the hallmark of burro's tail which is right at home in any hanging basket arrangement. The powdery blue and light green leaves serve as a stunning counterpoint to the richly crimson, star-shaped blooms that will emerge from the tips of the stems during the late spring and summer months!

Though an overall very hardy specimen, take care not to excessively jostle the stems of burro's tail to avoid accidentally detaching the fleshy leaves from the plant. Prone to scorching when kept in full sun, this specimen is well suited to indirect or filtered light conditions – making it an ideal houseplant! You’ll know if your plant needs more light than it is receiving if the stems begin to stretch, showing increased space between each leaf.

Thorough yet infrequent watering is key to shield it from rot, as is a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot. During the winter dormancy period, reduce watering frequency even further, and take steps to avoid exposing the plant to frost.

If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
