Opuntia subulata 'Eve's Needle'

Absolutely unmatched in appearance, Opuntia subulata ‘Eve’s Needle’ forms a rounded, fleshy ‘trunk’ from which petite cylindrical, leaf-like tubercles emerge, creating an unusual aesthetic scarcely seen in succulents – or anywhere else!

Native to the harsh climes of the Peruvian Andes, ‘Eve’s Needle’ can reach heights of up to 12 feet when provided with the appropriate conditions! Within our homes, however, limiting factors such as pot size and light availability typically result in a far more manageably sized plant, though even small specimens will retain their tree-like growth habit. Provide ‘Eve’s Needle’ with the brightest light possible for your home, and it will reward you with large, red blooms that give way to small, edible fruits!

Like all cacti, ‘Eve’s Needle’ prefers a thorough yet infrequent watering routine, coupled with a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot.  While it can survive a light frost, this variety prefers warm temperatures, so do the best you can to avoid exposing it to weather below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Shipping Information
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of Plant Club Subscription Boxes. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY.
    Plant Size & Appearance
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
