The South African native Crassula cotyledonis features silvery, rounded leaves with a distinctively flat paddle shape. Covered in a fine layer of powdery farina and soft ‘hairs’, the leaves appear satiny to the touch – but take care not to mar this coating with the oils from your fingertips! The margins of the leaves blush a pretty pink color when exposed to stress, such as bright light or cool temperatures, adding to their almost surreal appearance. Reaching only 6 inches in height, C. cotyledonis makes a great contrasting addition to any arrangement, or can readily hold its own on a sunny windowsill.

Adapted to the harsh climate of its native environment, C. cotyledonis requires plenty of full sunlight, as well as a porous soil mix with adequate drainage. Water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry throughout, and take care not to overwater – the thick leaves store a huge quantity of water for the plant to draw from!

Be sure to protect these chubby leaves from frost during the colder months, and you will be rewarded with compact clusters of petite, creamy green blooms during the spring and summertime!

If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
