The small, 3-inch rosettes of Echeveria 'Pinwheel' feature elongated, tapered leaves with a single soft spine at the tip, which will flush to bright magenta with ample sun exposure. The rest of the leaves are a dusty blue-gray, given an almost ethereal look thanks to a thick coating of powdery farina. Take care when handling ‘Pinwheel,’ as this coating can be easily marred by the oils within your fingerprints! Known for its tendency to rapidly and readily produce offsets, this variety makes an excellent groundcover within temperate rock gardens, or a contrasting addition to container plantings in chillier climates.

While ‘Pinwheel’ can tolerate some degree of shade, the tips will not blush to pink in the absence of plenty of bright sunlight! Furthermore, the plant is most likely to flower in sunnier conditions, sending up tall inflorescences of red and yellow blooms during the height of the summer growing season.

In addition to its light requirements, infrequent but thorough watering will best replicate ‘Pinwheel’s native environment – and porous soil, a pot with ample drainage, and ample airflow will take it the rest of the way! During the winter months, be sure to protect the leaves from frost, as it can cause permanent disfiguration to the rosettes.

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
