DESCRIPTION

A petite, faster-growing Aloe variety, Aloe haworthioides features rosettes of dark green leaves adorned with numerous soft, hair-like spines. Reaching only 4 inches tall and wide at maturity, Aloe haworthioides is so named because of how closely it resembles succulents of the Haworthia genus. With its delicate appearance and densely clustered growth habit, this Madagascar native makes a lovely addition to any succulent collection, either in arrangements or as a standalone specimen!

Unlike its namesake, this Aloe requires bright light conditions in order to thrive and produce its dainty inflorescences of pinkish orange flowers. The leaves of this variety are especially sensitive to rot, so take care never to pour water directly into the rosettes, instead thoroughly watering the soil surface directly only once it has become completely dry. Adequate airflow around the leaves, as well as a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot, will further shield against issues with rot. In the winter months, protect the fleshy leaves from freezing temperatures and reduce the frequency of watering even further, resuming a more regular routine as the temperatures begin to rise in the spring.

PLANT SIZING & APPEARANCE

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
