Haworthia arachnoidea v. xiphiophylla 'Cobweb Aloe'

With bright yellowish green leaves, Haworthia xiphiophylla forms small, upward reaching rosettes whose hallmark is a profusion of white, wavy teeth along the margins and keel of each leaf. The fleshy leaves spiral outward from the center of the plant, and are lightly striated with a clearly defined point at the tip. Reaching up to 12 inches across at maturity, a contented Haworthia xiphiophylla will begin producing offsets around the base of the plant, creating a clump of bright color within any container or temperate rock garden.

Lacking the numerous ‘windows’ typical of many Haworthia varieties, this cultivar prefers bright, indirect sun – and can even tolerate more direct light with proper acclimation. What Haworthia xiphiophylla cannot tolerate, however, is excess moisture, so be sure to follow a thorough but infrequent watering routine, such as the ‘soak and dry’ method. Furthermore, be sure to utilize a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot, and ensure ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface, to ward off issues such as rot or pests.

An overall hardy variety, Haworthia xiphiophylla must be shielded from freezing temperatures during the winter months, to protect the water-rich leaves from permanent scarring.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
