An incredibly unique specimen, Senecio jacobsenii 'Trailing Jade' features thick stems laden with paddle-shaped leaves, which feature a base hue of bright candy apple green that can flush to a vibrant purple hue when ‘stressed’ by full sunlight or cooler temperatures. An overall very beginner-friendly variety, this specimen will perform well even under slight neglect, and adds an unmatched look to hanging baskets, or as a ‘spiller’ component in potted succulent arrangements.
Native to the arid landscapes of Tanzania, ‘Trailing Jade’ requires minimal care to flourish, ultimately reaching cascading lengths in excess of 3 feet. Bright sunlight will encourage the best growth and most vibrant coloration, including bright orange blooms with a unique shape and sometimes-strange odor! Water this specimen in accordance with the ‘soak and dry’ method, being mindful to use a porous soil mix within a well-draining pot to help avoid issues with root rot.
Hardy only to Zone 10, it is critical to protect the broad leaves of ‘Trailing Jade’ from frost during the winter months.
If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
