Like most cultivars of this genus, G. pflanzii var. albipulpa features a globose stem with uniquely rounded ribs, from which curved spines emerge from wooly white areoles. What makes this variety stand out, however, is its intense coloration – deep hues of purple with hints of olive green set this cactus apart, while the spines can include tones of black, orange, and cream in a gradient from top to bottom. Though it reaches only a few inches tall and wide at maturity, itmore than makes up for its diminutive size, packing a contrasting punch on any sunny windowsill or within any container arrangement.
Though bright sun will ensure the best coloration on this stunning variety, be sure to provide itadequate time to acclimate to full sunlight, to avoid sunburn on the stem. The extra effort will be more than worth it when the plant comes into bloom, as the large blooms are copious and sport cream petals with brightly purple and magenta throats!
Like all cacti, it is critical not to subject this variety to ‘wet feet,’ so take care to water thoroughly but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out in between drinks. A porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot will further shield the plant from issues such as rot, as will ample airflow around the stem and soil surface. During the winter months, do not allow it to be subjected to freezing temperatures, which could otherwise cause permanent damage.

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
