Sempervivum 'Ruby Heart'

Originating in the French Alps, the elongated leaves of this cold hardy stunner form distinct points at the tip, and showcase an array of vibrant pink hues from a deep magenta along the outer edge to a peachy pink towards the center of each leaf. In dimmer lighting conditions, some of the pink coloration of Sempervivum ‘Ruby Heart’ may revert to a soft green, though bright sun and cool temperatures will revive the richness of the pink hues.

To strike the happy medium between richly hued leaves and avoiding sunburn, the ideal location for ‘Ruby Heart’ is within bright shade, shielding the plant from direct sunlight especially during the hottest part of the afternoon. Beyond this, its needs are simple – a porous soil mixture, a well-draining pot, and a thorough yet infrequent watering routine. Plan to water more often – though still only when the soil is dry – during the heat of the summer growing season, to encourage the ample production of offsets.

Blooming pink during the spring and summer months, ‘Ruby Heart’ may take a few years to flower – and once it does, the parent plant will die back, allowing its offsets to take over in its place.

    Shipping Information
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of Plant Club Subscription Boxes. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY.
    Plant Size & Appearance
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
