Petite, bluish green rosettes – which can blush to maroon when exposed to ample sunlight and cool temperatures – earn their name from the thick crisscross of spidery, web-like fibers that connects the points of the leaves. Producing copious numbers of offsets atop stalk-like stolons, Sempervivum ‘Cobweb’ is right at home in containers or directly within the landscape, where its cold hardiness down to Zone 4 makes it an excellent addition to gardens across much of the country!
Bright yet indirect sunlight will lead to the happiest ‘Cobweb’ specimen, encouraging the plant to offset while also shielding from the sunburn made possible by full afternoon sunlight. Indeed, a contented ‘Cobweb’ will produce rosy pink, star shaped blooms during the spring and summer growing season, rising above the plant atop unique, leafed flower stalks.
Beyond its lighting requirements, the care of this variety is simple enough for even the beginner succulent grower, centered on avoiding excess moisture around the roots and leaves of the plant. A porous soil mixture with ample drainage, combined with a thorough yet infrequent watering routine, will do the trick – adequate airflow around the leaves will also help prevent dampness from settling within the hallmark cobwebs, thus acting as further insurance against rot or pests.
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of Plant Club Subscription Boxes. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY.
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
