Haworthia emelyae var. major

A slow-grower, the petite Haworthia emelyae var. majorforms 3-inch rosettes that are both perfectly formed and relatively flattened against the soil surface. The very fleshy, triangularly shaped leaves curve sharply away from the center of the plant and are deeply green, offset by a heavily textured surface, lighter green striations, and soft teeth along the margins. The entire leaf will blush to pink or even red during the cooler seasons of the year, and during the summer the white blooms with green veining that will emerge on tall stalks add yet another layer of contrast.

Native to South Africa, Haworthia emelyae var. majordemonstrates the same ease of care for which its genus is known. While it can be acclimated to brighter sunlight, it is also content to grow within indirect or partially shaded conditions – making it an ideal houseplant! Avoiding excess moisture is key to the success of this specimen, so be sure to adhere to a thorough but infrequent watering routine and provide the plant with a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot.

During the winter months, take steps to protect Haworthia emelyae var. majorfrom frost, which could otherwise cause permanent scarring on its thick and fleshy leaves.
