These stunning specimens feature a ribbed, globose cactus with regular clusters of white spines and a base color of red, orange, yellow, pink, or even purple, grafted atop a green, columnar cactus rootstock. The reason for the graft is to allow the brightly hued ornamental cactus, which has such bright coloration as a result of the complete absence of chlorophyll, to thrive by receiving nutrition from the chlorophyll-rich rootstock! The result is a fascinating specimen sure to add an unmatched pop of color to any succulent collection.

In exchange for its rich coloration, ‘Grafted Moon Cactus’ does require some more attentive care than other un-grafted cactus varieties. Due to its lack of chlorophyll, it is important not to expose the brightly hued globe atop each plant to direct sunlight, which can cause sunburn. Instead, situate this unique plant in bright yet indirect light, ensuring plenty of ample airflow around the stem and soil surface. To avoid predisposing the graft to rot, take care to water deeply but very infrequently, allowing the soil to dry completely through in between drinks. Furthermore, be sure to provide ‘Grafted Moon Cactus’ with a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot, and shield it from freezing temperatures during the cold winter months.

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
