Echeveria elegans 'Mexican Snowball' Cristata

Featuring the same bluish green leaves of its more typical cousin, ‘Mexican Snowball’ Cristata displays broad swaths of dense growth cast in a white, powdery hue thanks to a very thick coating of farina. Due to a genetic mutation in the apical meristem, or growth center, of the plant, the leaves of this variety cluster together instead of forming rosettes, lending it an almost otherworldly look that will add an element of intrigue to any succulent collection.

While the care of this crested plant almost wholly resembles that of a ‘traditional’ Echeveria, be sure to exercise extra care when handling ‘Mexican Snowball’ Cristata, both to avoid marring the powdery layer with the oils from your fingerprints, and to avoid accidental damage to the plants complex growth form. Beyond this, its needs are simple – plenty of bright light will help this succulent to retain its beautiful coloration, while great airflow, a porous soil mixture, and excellent drainage will keep the plant’s roots dry and happy. Last but not least, a thorough but infrequent watering routine will help replicate the drought conditions this Mexican native prefers.

During the winter months, be sure to protect the mass of tender and fleshy leaves from frost, which could otherwise cause permanent damage.

Shipping Information
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of Plant Club Subscription Boxes. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY.
Plant Size & Appearance
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
