Echeveria 'Esther' Cristata
- Hand-Selected
- In stock, ready to ship
- Inventory on the way
With all the appeal of its non-crested cousin, Echeveria ‘Esther,’ but with a stunning and swirling mass of dusty blue leaves lined with bright magenta, ‘Esther’ Cristata is an absolute showstopper. While this exotic plant will thrive with the right care conditions, be sure to handle it with extra gentleness, to avoid marring the powdery coating of farina on each leaf or breaking apart its complex ‘crest’ of combined rosettes!
Just like any brightly colored Echeveria, the intensity of ‘Esther’ Cristata’s sun exposure will directly correlates to the intensity of its coloration. While this variety can tolerate filtered light, the crisp red margins will likely fade in the absence of more direct sun. Thorough but infrequent watering is the other ticket to success with this variety, ensuring that the soil has a chance to dry out completely between drinks. A porous soil mixture in a well-draining pot will further protect the plant against dampness and its associated ills – and take care not to allow any moisture to accumulate within the densely clustered leaves of the crest itself, which can predispose the plant to issues with rot.
During the cold winter months, be sure to protect ‘Esther’ Cristata from temperatures at or below freezing.
If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
