Native to the arid cliffs of South Africa, ‘Star Window Plant’ is as hardy as they come – and incredibly eye-catching, to boot! The bright, yellowish green leaves, which grow beneath the soil surface in its indigenous environment as a water conservation mechanism, curve inward and are lined with soft white spines along the margins and irregular translucent lines towards the pointed tips of each leaf. These lines are actually ‘windows’ that allow light to reach deep within the recesses of the plant – an adaptation which shields ‘Star Window Plant’ from scorching conditions in the wild, but also allows it to thrive within the lower light spaces of our homes!

One of the easiest of all Haworthia to care for, ‘Star Window Plant’ makes an exceptional starter succulent. Tolerant of both shade and a degree of overwatering, this specimen can withstand the learning curve of a succulent newbie! To encourage its success, strive to provide ‘Star Window Plant’ with a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot, ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface, and a thorough but infrequent watering routine that allows the soil time to dry through between drinks. Given the appropriate care, this slow-growing variety will eventually produce offsets around the base of the 4-inch parent plant, and will send up stalks of white blooms annually.

Hardy only to Zone 10, be sure to shield the water-rich leaves of ‘Star Window Plant’ from frosty temperatures, which could otherwise cause permanent damage.

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
