Haworthia retusa f. geraldii

Lime green leaves, highlighted by translucent ‘windows’ that allow light to reach deep into the plant, form star-shaped rosettes that make H. retusa f. geraldii an instant standout in any succulent collection. Each leaf curves sharply away from the center of the plant, creating a flattened look that allows the striations across the ‘windows’ to really shine – especially as the plant produces offsets to form a clump of color and texture that can either fill a small pot on its own, or serve as a high contrast element in arrangements or temperate rock gardens.

Like many varieties of the same genus, this plant prefers indirect light to avoid sunburn on its fleshy, water-rich leaves. Though it can tolerate even deeper shade, bright yet indirect sunlight will encourage each rosette to reach a mature size of up to 6 inches, while also sending up very tall stalks of tubular white blooms during the spring and summer months. To avoid predisposing the plant to rot, take steps to avoid ‘wet feet,’ including providing a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot, ensuring ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface, and following a thorough but infrequent watering routine.

Hardy only to Zone 10, be sure to shield the thick leaves from frost during the winter months, to avoid permanent scarring.

Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
