Gasteria bicolor var. lilliputana is a South African native features dense clusters of rigid, dark green, and often pointy leaves coated in white speckles that will begin to blush pink when exposed to ample light. A tendency to produces offsets rapidly ensures a clump of eye-catching foliage, whether Gasteria bicolor var. lilliputana is used as a specimen planting or as a component of a larger container arrangement!

While this variety can tolerate partially shaded conditions, it will display its richest coloration when provided with brighter light.  What is not negotiable, however, is a thorough but infrequent watering routine, to avoid subjecting the shallow root system to excess moisture. Furthermore, a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot, coupled with ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface, will shield against rot and pests, giving Gasteria bicolor var. lilliputana its best shot at years of healthy, vibrant growth.

During the warm days of spring, pink and green blooms will appear on slender pink blooms stalks rising above the plant, adding yet another layer of charming contrast to this intriguing variety. During the cool winter months, however, be sure to protect the leaves of Gasteria bicolor var. lilliputana from freezing temperatures, which could otherwise result in permanent damage.
