An adorably fuzzy, rounded cactus, Mammillaria guelzowiana features a bright green base coloration and conical tubercles, from which both hooked, rusty red spines and white, hair-like strands emerge. Reaching only 3-4 inches tall and wide, this charming variety will begin to quickly produce offsets around its base, creating a cluster of color and texture. Furthermore, during the spring months each stem will produce multiple fuchsia colored flowers so large they will absolutely overwhelm the entire plant with their vibrant color!
Despite its blooms being the largest in the genus, Mammillaria guelzowiana is quite easy to care for, making it an exceptional variety for even the most novice succulent and cactus grower. Bright to direct sunlight will ensure ample growth and prodigious blooms, while a thorough yet infrequent watering routine will help insure the plant against issues such as rot or pests. Beyond these two care components, a porous soil mixture within a well-draining pot is all that this low maintenance variety asks for in order to thrive!
Hardy only to Zone 10, be sure to protect Mammillaria guelzowiana from frost during the winter months, which could otherwise damage its petite stems.
If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
