Titanopsis primosii

Size

Forming dense mats of silvery blue, soft green, or even mauve color, this charming South African specimen forms elongated leaves with globular tips coated in warty tubercles that lend the plant a gravel-like appearance. A member of the msembs, or mimicry plant, family, this adaptation helps to protect Titanopsis primosiifrom grazing animals that may otherwise munch on its water-rich leaves. While each individual rosette of leaves will only reach a few inches tall and wide at maturity, over time the plant will form clusters of offsets, making quite the statement in any container or temperate rock garden.

Bright light will encourage Titanopsis primosiito not only produce offsets, but to also send up its daisy-like blooms, which can appear in shades of buttery yellow or even orange. Falling into dormancy during the high heat of summer, take care to water this specimen even more infrequently during this time of year, though it may seem counterintuitive at first! During the remaining seasons, a thorough yet infrequent watering routine will do the job, complemented by a porous soil mixture, a well-draining pot, and ample airflow around the leaves and soil surface.

Hardy only to Zone 9, take care to shield Titanopsis primosiifrom frost during the depths of winter.

    Shipping Information
All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of Plant Club Subscription Boxes. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY.
    Plant Size & Appearance
Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
