With crinkly, bright pink margins gracing the edges of these vibrant green and blue leaves, Echeveria ‘Blue Jay’ is, in a word, spectacular. The large, well-formed rosettes make for excellent additions to succulent arrangements and temperate rock gardens, where they will provide a contrasting element to deeper green or even red succulent and cacti varieties. Take care when handling ‘Blue Jay’s leaves, however, as the powdery layer of farina can be easily marred by the oils in your fingerprints!

Like all Echeveria, this variety needs bright sunlight in order to retain its unique coloration, encourage the red blushing around the margins, and avoid the rosettes beginning to stretch out. An outdoor location or a sunny south or west facing windowsill will do the trick – but be sure to bring outdoor specimens indoors when there is a threat of frost.

Beyond its light requirements, ‘Blue Jay’ will thrive if provided with porous soil in a well-draining pot, coupled with ample airflow around the leaves, to help stave off dampness and rot. Watering in accordance with the ‘soak and dry’ method will further shield against these issues, ensuring that the soil has a chance to dry completely prior to the next watering.

If you're not completely happy with your Leaf & Clay purchase, we'll do everything we can to make things right!

All plants are shipped bare-root with the exception of House Plants and Plant Club Subscription Boxes. House plants and succulents will ship from separate locations and may arrive at different times. Orders ship Monday-Friday each week. Please allow 1-3 business days for your order to be processed. We ship within the USA and its outlying territories ONLY. Read our full policy here.

Plant sizing is based on the diameter of the nursery pot (2", 2.5", 3", 4" etc), not the plant itself. Plants may be slightly larger or smaller than the pot they are grow in depending on availability or time of year. While we do our best to ship plants as similar to those pictured as possible, please keep in mind that all plants are unique from one to the next, and display color, shape, and growth variation based on current environment, time of year, and other contributing factors. Please note that we ship our plants as dry as possible in the fall and winter months to prevent root rot or freezing. They will plump back up after planting!
